Dr. William Scarlett

Dr. William ScarlettDr. William Scarlett is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon whose practice is located in Meadowbrook, PA. Dr. Scarlett specializes in breast cancer reconstruction. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS).

Dr. Scarlett’s practice philosophy focuses on patient safety and education about plastic surgery. He has been given many awards: America’s Top Plastic Surgeons; Patient’s Choice award; the American Institute of Plastic Surgery: Patient Satisfaction Award; one of America’s Most Compassionate Doctors Award; Vital’s Compassionate Surgeon award and in 2018 was a recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Health Care Innovators Award.

Dr. Scarlett is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American College of Health Care Executives, American Association of Physician Leaders, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society.

Dr. Scarlett is a Cum Laude graduate of Dickinson College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He then attended medical school at the University of Des Moines. After completing medical school, Dr. Scarlett completed his five-year General Surgery Residency at Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania and then did a Plastic Surgery Fellowship in Philadelphia at PCOM and a Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship in Scottsdale Arizona.

Recently Dr. Scarlett returned to school and completed a Masters degree in Health Care Management at Harvard University in Boston.

Dr. Scarlett has developed and published new techniques in breast reconstructive surgery and continues to teach and mentor plastic surgery fellows, general surgery residents and medical students. He was a co-founder of a research company and continues to advance research development in the surgical and cancer arenas. Dr. Scarlett received a patent for a laser used to treat a specific abnormality of the breast.

Over the past 15 years Dr. Scarlett published many articles in both national and international journals and has lectured regionally and nationally on topics around breast cancer reconstruction. He was asked to write the reconstruction chapter for the book Surviving Cancer: Our Voices and Choices and was a contributing author to the book An Inside Job. He is currently co-authoring his own book, Demanding Compassion.

Dr. Stacey DonFrancesco

Dr. DonFrancescoDr. Stacey DonFrancesco is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. She has recently joined her mentor, Dr. Scarlett, at Holy Redeemer Health System. Originally from Cranston, Rhode Island, Dr. DonFrancesco graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Providence College before accepting a position in research at Rhode Island Hospital-Brown University. After two years in research, she realized her passion for clinical medicine and entered medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She underwent rigorous training in General Surgery at PCOM before being accepted into the integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Over the course of her fellowship, Dr. DonFrancesco trained at prestigious institutions in the New York and Philadelphia area which include Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Reading Hospital and Trauma Center, West Chester Hospital and Trauma Center, Philadelphia Hand Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Holy Redeemer Hospital under the direct mentorship of Dr.Scarlett. She also had the honor of being named chief plastic and reconstructive surgical fellow during her last two years of the program.

Dr. DonFrancesco is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.  Her interests lie in breast, body, and facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries. She is eager to bring her perspective as a female plastic surgeon to the practice and to her patients.
